La Casona Real
Traditional manor houses

The nuns' house
On the Plaza de la Constitución, next to the church and the Town Hall, stands one of the houses with the most history in Cabezas del Pozo. Locals know it by two names, and each one holds a part of its legend.
A house with royal blood
Family tradition has it that the house belonged to a cousin of Isabella I of Castile. It wouldn't be so strange: the queen was born just a few kilometres from here, in Madrigal de las Altas Torres, and spent her childhood in Arévalo. Perhaps that's where the name «Casona Real» comes from.
A hospital in the village
According to the same tradition, the house was once used as a hospital. Nuns cared for the sick there, which is why the village still calls it «the nuns' house».
No document confirms it yet, but legends are also memory. Telling them is another way of not forgetting.
