Cultural Week · August

In mid-August, when the houses open up again and those who live away come back to the village, Cabezas del Pozo celebrates its Semana Cultural (Cultural Week). These are days when the streets fill with children, the square becomes a stage, and every evening brings something new to discover.

How it began. It is organised by the Asociación Sociocultural de Cabezas del Pozo, ASCAP. Its first editions were simple: with very few resources, villagers put together workshops for children, a dinner for everyone, and the occasional cycling ride along the village paths. What was never lacking was the will for people to enjoy their village again.

How it is today. Over the years, the Semana Cultural has grown enormously. Now there's open-air summer cinema under the stars of La Moraña, theatre, talks, live music, dance workshops and workshops for adults, games and parties, and even medieval markets. And new ideas come up every year, because the Semana Cultural is made by everyone together.

It is held in mid-August, usually around the 15th. [The exact dates each year are in ASCAP's programme.]

If you want to see Cabezas del Pozo alive, noisy and in full celebration, come in August. It's the best time to understand why this village refuses to be forgotten.
