- Shop of the Estévez family. Previously located in the inn, La casa de Vitora
In the old hayloft of a manor house on Calle Larga, where straw for the animals used to be kept, today you can find a bit of everything. It's surprising walking in: for such a small village, the range is huge. There are basic groceries, like pasta, rice and eggs, household goods and, above all, fruit and local produce — the kind that tastes of the garden. It's the perfect place to buy something for the road, or to take a little piece of La Moraña home with you.
A shop that has moved around the village
Calle Larga was the village's trading street, and the Estévez family ran several of their businesses on it. The shop moved through different houses in the village. It was once in the inn, La casa de Vitora, where travellers found shelter, food and everything they needed to continue on their way. It finally passed to the youngest of the Estévez children, who ran a homemade fizzy-lemonade factory in the village. Back in the 1960s and 70s he served it from siphons, and later became a local distributor for La Casera. Today his daughter runs it, carrying on what has always been done on this street: welcoming whoever arrives.
No fixed hours here
The shop is part of its owner's own home, so at any time of day you just need to knock on the door to be served. The way it has always been done in villages.
Remember you're knocking on someone's home: do it at a reasonable hour, and with the same courtesy as always.
